A little about me...

Hi! I’m Alessandro. I started this blog in 2012, and I'm now in my 20s. I still have a sister named Elise; she is no longer 6 years old, nor in girl scouts. Of course, I was, but no longer am, in scouts as well. I occasionally live by the beach and I do still have a HUGE extended family all over the US and Mexico. Some of my favorite words continue to be pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis and terraqueous. I am really good at math, science, magic and building things. Since then, I've picked up singing and dancing, and a few languages as well. I study Mechanical Engineering and Physics at MIT, and though I am no longer 8 years old , I still really like Legos. I also maintain my interest in circuitry. That’s mostly it. Bye for now.

Christmas comes to Seal Beach...

It's starting too look a lot more christmasy here ! All these weird things are happening! Although usually they would put snow play somewhere colder, this is the beach! There are so many bright lights around trees, things, and places. I just love Christmas!

King of the Cliff!

Sand Surfing!

If you do not already know, we live down the street from the beach. Well, this winter season, they made gigantic sand barricades on the beach, at the highest height of 10ft.! You should really go there if you haven't done it already. But the best part is, you can sled down the barricade! These images and videos show me surfing down the wall of sand. Enjoy!

Nature Encounter!

So I'm at Rush Park with my family for my sister's soccer game. We get out of the car. I was walking from the car and I was about to climb this tree. When I saw the green praying mantis(lower photo) and showed my parents and my sister. Then, when I looked up again, I saw a bigger brown one! (below) I felt really good about myself because you need really good eyesight to see a camouflaged animal!

Fwd: ...and they're off!

Den 6 at PWD 2012!

Check out my car the 'light racer' in the third lane...

Fwd: Derby Day!

Today is the pinewood derby. A lot of cub scouts come to this derby to see their car race on the track! My car was orange with two red LED's and two green LED's. It is now called the light racer. I felt really good about this occasion and I have faith in my car!

The first coat!

The video up here shows me spraying my light racer with spray paint. Wish me luck for the race!

"Light Racer" in progress

m

This is me spray-painting my Light Racer with different coats. We spray the down-side with black (to attract heat), and the top orange (to make the lights stand out). This is going to be great!

Pinewood Derby Time!

This is me building my car that is going to light up! To be able to achieve this task, we will build a circuit on top of our car. I am doing this because it is a scout requirement. I think it is very interesting!

Sensei Wu is on the loose! He was found in Seal Beach, CA at his Halloween party. They put on the song gangnam style and he went out from the dinner table and stated doing the gangnam style dance. After that, we all went trick-or-treating. I got a lot of candy!

The final product...

The first picture shows me and my sister

masterpieces. The second picture shows
my eerie  pumpkin glowing in the
darkness of the night. The final one shows

It's going to be a masterpiece!

Me carving my masterpiece...
Just a few more strokes...

It's Pumpkin Carving Time!

HALOWEEN TIME!

These are carvings and templates of my stormtrooper jack'o lantern! The reason it is a stormtrooper is because I wanted to make something original, but we could only find this pattern as the easiest. It took a long time to finish, but it was still worth it! There were some hard parts that were really narrow, but my dad helped me, so I was Okay. The final product will be shown later.

Inside Lake Fire Station

@ Lake Fire Station

Sound The Alarm!

Today, my sister Elise's Daisy Troop went to the Huntington Beach Lake Fire Station.  When we got in there, the fireman there told us that this was the only fire station in the city that had a pole that you can slide down on!  The fireman giving us the tour, split us into two groups.  My group went inside the station first.  When we went into the kitchen, I immediately noticed that the kitchen was so huge, that they even had three refrigerators and a dinning table for 10 people!  The fireman told us that they play cards to see who has to cook dinner for all 10 people in the station.  Once we ventured into the TV room, I realized that every chair in there was a recliner!  They told us that they can only go into the TV room after they've done everything. Then we went into the dock where all of the fire engines are.  There he showed us all of the equipment they use.  The coolest thing I saw was a metal tool that can break down any door in the world!  Right at that moment, one of the fire fighters had to go to Albertson's.  I wondered if the store was on fire because they turned on the lights and sirens! It turned out they were just buying groceries!  I think that the fireman's job is really cool!!

Snorkeling time!

under the sea

Look at all the fish!Red ones, blue ones, yellow ones, and even rainbow fish! After I got out, my dad went into the water. He went out really far. But when he came back,he ran to us.And even before I could say a word to him, he told us he saw an EEL!He asked us if we wanted to see it.I wanted to, but I have boundries for snorkeling. So instead of immeadeintly telling him I wanted to go,I questioned him.I asked him where the eel was and if it was big. He said that it was right on the rocks and that it was only about a foot long. When I went in to see what it looked like,it was awesome! The eel was white with black dots on it. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Maui miniature frog

Croak! Croak!

Allloooooohhhhaaaaa! These are the adventures I have been having
in MAUI! It was so much fun! Here's something interesting that happened on the trip. I was walking at the coy pond in my hotel, then I came across a rock with something small moving on it.I come closer, and closer, until I realized that the tiny speck was a frog! There  wasn't one, either. there were two, then three, and a bunch of tadpoles. These were the size of a fly, I tell you!I held the frog on a woodchick. It was awesome!

Blow out the candles

Happy birthday! My ( used to be) 5 year old sister is now 6 years old! We had a party at our house. After the cake, it was present time! Then came the attack of the mis-delivered clothes. At first ,we didn't know this, but we realized some were delivered incorrectly. (Good thing was,we only opened what we were supposed to). What a relief!

Endevour!

Endevour! Endevour! Those are the words of kids and adults all over California cheering for this amazing sight. A space shuttle has been mounted on top of an airplane. This is going to be the last
time we see a space shuttle in the air. Once it lands, the space shuttle program is over! A sad, but glorious sight.

SOCCER TIME!

9/9/12
Today is Saturday soccer day for the Super Sonic Soldiers on their first game of U 10 and we sure kicked that ball.  We played the 'Blue Venom' team.  They were a really hard team to play, or maybe I should have said they were too rough on us. In one case,a player on the blue venom's team knocked me down and they got the free kick! I was just glad he didn't injure me too badly when they flipped over me. Unfortunately, we lost that game but we'll get the next one!  Stay tuned...

Beach Clean up!

Hanging out with Den 6 after spending the morning cleaning up the beach...

- Alessandro
Okay, I'm back - hello! I'm Alessandro again. I still have a sister named Elise who is now in high school and no longer in girl scouts. I, however, continued to pursue scouting, and recently completed my Eagle Scout Project. I still live near the beach, though not as close as before. My extended family still exists everywhere, though I haven't seen any of them in months due to the pandemic-related circumstances - but I did recall that this blog existed! Terraqueous is a cool word, however, pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis still reigns supreme. (I suppose I never caught the spelling error in the former message - oh well) I still like math and science, and while I am not sure what I intended by "magic", it sounds fun. I still build things, including legos, though I haven't done some real circuitry in a while. It might be time to start that up again.
